Past Hunger Games - 72nd Hunger Games - Redwoods
arena suggested by seaborn-e
The 72nd annual Hunger Games took place in the towering Redwood forest. The only weapons available during these games were spiked maces of various weights. Although the careers stuck together, the games proved much harder for them than in past years, because their training with refined weapons was of little help. The victor, Taylor Cord of District 8, was not at all favored to win - as a matter of fact, odds were that she would die within the first six hours of the games. Taylor received a measly 3 for her training score, having no apparent survival skills. During the games, however, it became apparent that Taylor was very talented in weaving natural looking screens of grass, sticks, and leaves, that she used to camouflage herself while she hid. Taylor stayed out of the way of everyone else, having no weapons, and only managing to eat berries or small animals she could catch with the snares she devised. When there were only four tributes left, the remaining three careers turned on each other, bludgeoning one another in one of the bloodiest, most vicious fights in Hunger Games history. Once the careers had beaten each other too hard to fight any longer, Taylor came out of hiding and killed them by clumsily smashing a mace into their chests, in what she considered to be a mercy killing. It was quite a shock to everyone that the young girl, of such small stature and low training score, managed to win the most brutal games in the history of Panem.
